The Material of Lid : PP and PET

Food preservation lids have always been more popular, with the right size of paper cups can organize different foods, we are choosing food lids, to choose a safe material, if you choose a toxic material, it is not good for the body. The common materials of food lids on the market are PET and PP.

PP is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic semi-transparent solid material, with high thermoplasticity, melting point can reach 167 degrees Celsius, is the only kind of plastic that can be put into the microwave oven for heating, high temperature resistance is good, will not be deformed, will not produce harmful substances, but also can withstand low temperatures to minus 35 degrees. PP lid light specific gravity, chemical resistance and other characteristics, widely used in clothing, blankets and other fiber products, medical equipment, automobiles, bicycles, parts, conveying pipelines, chemical containers and other production, but also used for food, drug packaging.

 

PET Lid

 
PET is a milky white or light yellow, highly crystalline polymer with smooth and glossy surface. PET lid is easily deformed if heated up to 70 degrees, and it also produces some carcinogenic substances that are harmful to human body and will affect human health. Creep resistance, fatigue resistance, abrasion resistance and good dimensional stability, small abrasion but high hardness. Mainly used in electronic and electrical appliances, such as: electrical sockets, electronic connectors, rice cooker handles, TV bias yokes, terminal blocks, breakers shells and so on.

In summary, PET lid and PP lid are safe and suitable for food grade, are all can directly contact with food packaging. But the specific choice of use should be divided into circumstances, if you still need to heat the food in the food box, to choose the PP material is good, if you do not need to heat, choose PET lid and PP lid can be.
